The gender inequality in entrepreneurship is an ages old predicament. While it's beyond any reasonable doubt that gender equality is a crucial aspect of a nation's prosperity, the way it remains that way is a heavy paradox. It's imperative that we focus on the positives and find ways to mitigate this predicament, simultaneously while creating awareness in the society.

According to the Sixth Economic Census released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, women comprise approximately 14 percent of the total entrepreneurship 8.05 million out of the total 58.5 million entrepreneurs in the country. Out of this, more

than 65 percent belong to the non-agriculture sectors. It's important for the government to offer systematic support by not only recognizing the interests of aspiring women entrepreneurs, but also cultivating the interest from a young age through academic programs. In addition, a change in attitude, self belief and relentless efforts to find avenues to color entrepreneurial dreams are also inevitable.

The government has launched multiple initiatives to help this cause. One among them is NITI Aayog's Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) which launched in 2018. The first of its kind facilitation platform that lists women focused entrepreneurship schemes, initiatives and programs in the public as well as the private sector. WEP has more than 30 partners who have signed Statement of Intent (SoI) with many of those who have committed specific deliverables towards WEP users. It's a great opportunity and a great place to begin your pursuit.
