The Next Big Thing in the Indian Healthcare Industry

Anamika Sahu, Managing Editor

According to a PwC study, consumers are ready to adopt mobile healthcare faster than the healthcare industry is prepared to adapt. The study also ranks India second among developing countries studied on maturity for mHealth adoption. Global Market Insights further predicts that India mHealth market will grow at a CAGR of 42.7 percent between 2019-2025. Looking at the growing smartphone penetration in India, this number seems just the right uptick and the spot-on opportunity for the healthcare industry to bring the change.

The existing gap between the two ends of India (rural
& urban) is widening with every passing day. Hence
mHealth will not only enable the healthcare providers in the rural regions to gain access to critical expertise, but will be done at a more cost-effective way. It even enables doctors and nurses practicing in the remote regions to connect to their peers to consult with. mHealth will surely provide the newer ways to make quality and affordable healthcare accessible to everyone. However, the challenge still remains maintaining data confidentiality and the improper performance of poorly-executed application, which might become irritating to use for both service providers and seekers. On the other hand, despite larger internet penetration, the poor network connectivity and lack of knowledge in the rural areas are two other roadblocks the industry needs to deal with.

Understanding the need of the hour, CEO Insights bring to you ‘10 Best mHealth Services Providers – 2019’, a list of companies who not only provide the best of mHealth solutions but also take upon themselves to educate the stakeholders on how this technology can bring in a major change in the way the industry functions today.
