Give a brief account of your professional journey and what inspired you to establish NGEN Water Solutions.
During my tenure at the previous company, I had the privilege of overseeing the water and wastewater division for nearly three years. However, my desire to venture into something of my own led me to establish NGEN Water Solutions a ground-breaking engineering startup specializing in water purification through Capacitive Deionization (CDI).
Being at the forefront of this cutting-edge technology in India fills me with great pride.We are pioneers in introducing this unique water purification method, which sets us apart from the countless options available today, such as reverse osmosis.
What are your leadership approach and guiding methodologies for leading teams?
The utmost priority is to
demonstrate respect for every team member. I consistently strive to create an atmosphere where they feel at ease engaging in conversations, allowing them to share their thoughts and ideas on any project, leading to the generation of fresh and intriguing alternative solutions. I make a point of explaining the rationale behind my decisions and work choices to everyone. Furthermore, I constantly encourage them in their endeavours, regardless of the nature of the task. Our company maintains a clear stance on the office environment, strictly forbidding any attempts to disrupt it or promote toxic thinking, as such behaviour is unacceptable under any circumstances.

NGEN Water Solutions stands as a testament to the innovative spirit and dedication of a group of driven scientists, students, and faculty hailing from IIT Tirupati. With a remarkable collective R&D experience of over 25 years in water treatment technologies, our inception took place in 2021. Our mission is simple yet impactful to provide affordable access to clean water for every fellow citizen, aligning with the vision of a self-reliant India. Through our cutting-edge solutions, we cater to both industrial process water requirements and community drinking water needs. Our state-of-the art, intelligent desalination technology boasts selfsensing capabilities and remote monitoring facilities, setting new benchmarks in the field.
What are the factors you look into when developing effective corporate growth strategies?
The first factor is to identify what makes us different from the competition, then we identify the target customers. I will always look for area of growth where I can increase my employees, increase profits and revenue, launching an online store, adding additional products and services. The most important factor would be setting up the goal based on what I want my business to become. According to that, I create a plan in which my team gets responsibility for each action item and the deadlines for when each task needs to be accomplished.

What Is CDI?
Our water purification technology Capacitive Deionization (CDI) is a process system that removes charged species from water using an electrical potential difference between a pair of electrodes made often of porous carbon (graphene). We have developed and patented different types of grapheme materials on a commercial scale and used them for CDI and different applications. It is a non-membrane t echnique that works on the electrosorption principle.When a small potential difference is applied across the electrodes (<1.5 -1.8 V), the electrode which is positively charged adsorbs anions (negatively charged ions) and the other electrode which is negatively charged adsorbs cations (positively charged ions) resulting in the production of clean water. When the electrodes are saturated, the polarity is reversed to regenerate the electrodes. The key features of CDI are; High water recovery, low energy consumption, retaining useful minerals for drinking, and long service life with minimum maintenance.

Our team focuses on cutting-edge science, developing graphenic materials for multiple applications. We enhance CDI products by integrating AI and innovative tech. We offer trial options, customized solutions, and attractive packages for customer satisfaction. Exploring new markets and implementing our solutions drive our innovation forward approach.
What is your future roadmap and where do you see yourself heading in the upcoming years?
In the upcoming years, our focus is on becoming the leading provider of exclusive water purification technology in the Indian subcontinent. With the growing importance of seawater, we aim to offer safe and accessible water solutions. By leading the industry in innovative technologies, we strive to make a significant impact on the water landscape and address the pressing water challenges in our region.Our commitment, determination, and dedication will propel us toward achieving this goal and establishing ourselves as the preferred leader in water purification technology.
