Director

Today’s business leaders are increasingly shaped by the complexity of the environments they operate in. Leadership is no longer confined to strategy and performance; it calls for the ability to make sound decisions under pressure, understand people, respond to change and remain focused through uncertainty.

In many cases, the strongest leadership perspectives emerge from experiences outside conventional corporate careers, where responsibility and decision-making are tested in very different circumstances. It is this breadth of experience that defines Ramesh Menon, Director, GAR Corporation, whose leadership journey spans nearly 44 years across the Indian Army and the corporate sector.

Transitioning from the armed forces to the corporate world, Menon began his corporate career with a leading realestate developer before moving into one of the largest IT multinational companies.

The experience exposed him to rapidly evolving business environments and enabled him to take on progressively larger responsibilities. Equally influential were the leaders he worked with, particularly their humility despite their seniority. This reinforced his belief that humility is essential to building trust and reducing barriers between leaders and their teams.

Menon views leadership as a 360-degree responsibility, requiring strong leadership above, capable peers alongside and an effective team to lead. He also credits his teams as a source of continuous inspiration. This combination of military discipline, corporate exposure, humility and a people-centric outlook continues to shape his leadership philosophy and his approach to creating sustained value at GAR Corporation.

What have been the defining milestones in your leadership journey, and how have they contributed to GAR Corporation’s expansion and success?

My experience across real estate and IT gave me a 360-degree understanding of customer requirements, particularly those of multinational clients. This perspective has helped us build a strong customer focused approach at GAR. The company’s growth also reflects the vision of
our founder, Gavva Amarender Reddy, who anticipated Hyderabad’s IT expansion and the demand for Grade A commercial spaces.

GAR was the first mover into Kokapet and has since built around 12 million square feet, with nearly 80 percent occupied. Our current pace of growth is being driven by the passion and global outlook of our Managing Director, Abhinav Ram Reddy. Trust and empowerment play vital roles in the growth of any leader and it is my good fortune that these are fundamental values that drive the philosophy of GAR Corporation.

Our objective is to create environments that allow clients to focus on their core businesses while we take responsibility for providing the infra -structure and services needed to support business conti- nuity and long-term growth

As the real estate industry continues to evolve, how do you drive innovation, quality, and sustainability while meeting changing customer needs?

In today’s VUCA environment, technology evolves rapidly so we evaluate investments carefully, considering their relevance and longevity. At GAR, we continuously upgrade our campuses and leverage technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics while retaining the human element. Most importantly, I believe we must understand our customers’ businesses, not just our own.

Hybrid work has brought its unique challenges in terms of workplace design and customer experience. Awareness of rapidly changing global trends and customer expectations helps us adapt and innovate. We have also charted a clear ESG roadmap that helps us maintain focus on environment and sustainability.

GAR Corporation works closely with Global Clients, Architects, Designers and Vendor Partners. How do you ensure strong stakeholder relationships while main -taining operational excellence and ethical business practices?

I believe effective stakeholder relation -ships begin with continuous learning and listening. I actively follow global developments and engage with industry forums to understand evolving expectations. Customer engagement is not a one-time exercise; we continuously seek feedback and adapt accordingly.

At GAR, we also emphasize inclusion by ensuring our facilities cater to different employee groups, including third-party service providers. Accessibility, wellness and employee experience are equally
important. We incorporate biophilia, art, healthcare initiatives and inclusive infrastructure to create a more supportive environment for everyone.

What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of the Real Estate industry, and how is GAR Corporation positioning itself for long-term growth and global leadership?

From GAR’s perspective, we see continued growth in Hyderabad and are preparing by anticipating future commercial and workplace requirements. Our early move into Kokapet reflected this approach, and we continue to develop new campuses in anticipation of the city’s expansion.

Technology, workplace exp- erience, accessibility, wellness and customized infra -structure will remain important. Our objective is to create environments that allow clients to focus on their core businesses while we take responsibility for providing the infrastructure and services needed to support business continuity and long-term growth.

What does being recognized among the ‘Annual Leaders 2026’ by CEO Insights mean to you, and what is your long-term vision for GAR Corporation’s future?

I value recognition, but I believe organizational achievements are more meaningful than individual awards. I recently received recognition as an ‘India’s Iconic Leader’ at the House of Lords, UK, while GAR was recognized as an ‘Iconic Brand’. For me, the latter carries greater significance because individuals can take an organization only so far, whereas a resilient institution can create value for generations.

My focus is therefore on building a strong organization, developing its people and ensuring that GAR remains resilient, customer-focused and capable of sustaining its growth over the long term. The credit for success goes to the top management of GAR for their trust, empowerment and constant guidance. I also wish to acknow-ledge the contributions of our excellent team at GAR who have been part of our growth story.
