Germany has a highly developed social market economy. It is the largest national economy in the Europe and the fourth largest nominal GDP in the world. The country is the founding member of EU and Eurozone. Germany has an economic freedom score of 72.5, making it 29th freest economy in 2021 index. Germany is ranked 16th among 45 countries in the Europe region, and its overall score is above the regional and world averages.
Germany has always been a favourite location of migration for Indians who wish to choose foreign land as their home. The economic corporation and trade history between India and Germany dates back to a period earlier than 500 years. In the new age trade, the German companies have discovered new business and investment opportunities in India. Also, the well-educated and business minded Indians have found Germany as an ideal location for building their carrier and dreams.
More than 1700 German companies are active in India, providing around 400,000 direct and indirect jobs. Bilateral trade between the two countries in 2019 was valued at more than EUR 21.3 billion. Germany is the seventh largest foreign direct investor in India. Indian investments in Germany have remarkably increased over the last few years. Indian corporate entities have invested over EUR 6.5 billion in Germany, especially in IT, automotive, pharma and biotech sectors. Today, there are more than 200 Indian companies operating in Germany. The German Embassy and Consulates in India is trying to intensify the corporation in the field of economic affairs between two countries.
