AECOM Partners with Transport Australia on Policy Matters

AECOM, the reliable global infrastructure leader, declares its selection as the first productivity policy partner for Transport Australia.
AECOM has become a member of Transport Australia’s productivity policy working group, leveraging the Company’s extensive knowledge in consulting and implementing significant transportation infrastructure to assist the industry organization's aim of enhancing productivity within the sector.
Mark McManamny, AECOM’s chief executive for Australia and New Zealand and Transport Australia board director says, “As a policy partner to Transport Australia, we bring real‑time insights from our work with transport clients across Australia – in capital cities, regional centres and along key freight corridors – spanning the full planning, delivery and operations lifecycle.”
“Our transport system is grappling with significant productivity pressures from growing demand, ageing road and rail assets, and construction and workforce constraints. These challenges are not unique to Australia, and we are closely connected to global peers who are at the forefront of applying automation, AI, data and digital engineering to tackle them,” says Mark.
Transport Australia’s chief executive officer, Ehssan Veiszadeh says, “Transport Australia’s mission is to bring industry and government together to help shape a more integrated, productive and sustainable transport system for Australia. That mission depends on strong policy partnerships and genuine collaboration. The biggest challenges facing our sector, including productivity, network performance and long-term system reform, are shared challenges.”

“They demand shared thinking and shared effort. That is why we are proud to work with AECOM, both as a valued partner and through its contribution on our Board. Partnerships like this strengthen the ideas, leadership and collaboration needed to deliver better outcomes for the sector and Australia,” adds Ehssan.

Laura Fluck, AECOM’s managing director for Advisory in Australia and New Zealand says, “Productivity is front of mind for many of our clients well beyond the transport sector – including in aviation, water and other essential services. Because we work collaboratively across sectors, we can bring powerful multidisciplinary lessons to the policy table.”

“Engineers are often overlooked as policy advisers, yet we are uniquely placed. We understand how strategy, planning and delivery intersect on the ground. We can help shape productivity policy, and then turn it into outcomes, because we know how these assets work and how to get more from them,” adds Laura.
