Donald Trump Orders Hormuz Blockade as Iran Talks Break Down
The United States and Iran engaged in negotiations for nearly 20 hours in Islamabad over the weekend. Unfortunately, there were continued disagreements over Iran's nuclear program. This means that the ceasefire possibly will not be held.
Donald Trump said “most points were agreed to” during nearly 20 hours of negotiations, but Iran remained “unyielding” on giving up its nuclear ambitions. “There is only one thing that matters; Iran is unwilling to give up its nuclear ambitions”, he added.
President Trump has directed the US Navy to initiate a blockade for ships that are moving into or out through the Strait of Hormuz or using that shipping lane. He has also warned that any vessel that pays what he refers to as an "illegal toll" to Iran will be intercepted.
“The Blockade will begin shortly. Other countries will be involved with this blockade. Iran will not be allowed to profit off this Illegal Act of extoration. They want money and, more importantly, they want Nuclear. Additionally, at an appropriate moment, we are fully “LOCKED AND LOADED,” and our Military will finish up the little that is left of Iran!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Almost 20 percent of the world's oil goes through the Strait of Hormuz. For India, a significant portion of its crude imports also transits through that area—therefore, India is vulnerable to any disruption in the Strait.

“The combined impact across the four channels on growth, inflation, the fiscal balance, and external balances is likely to be significant,” according to the report.
