Andhra Pradesh, ISRO to Use Space Technology for Citizen Governance

The Real Team Governance Society of Andhra Pradesh and ISRO's SHAR (Sriharikota Range) inked a Memorandum of Understanding to use space technology for citizen-centric governance in real time.
In the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, SHAR Director A. Rajarajan, and RTGS CEO Prakhar Jain, the two organizations signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding.
In terms of using space technology for real-time, citizen-centric governance, CM Naidu called it a historic step.
"This collaboration will enhance the AWARE platform with satellite imagery and scientific inputs across 42 applications spanning agriculture, weather, disaster management, urban planning, and so on," Naidu posted on X.
"AWARE integrates data from satellites, drones, IoT, sensors, mobile feeds, and CCTV to deliver real-time alerts and advisories to citizens and the government via SMS, WhatsApp, and media and social media," he adds.
AP Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Research Centre is known as AWARE, while ISRO's Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, is also known as SHAR.
On January 30, the state government introduced WhatsApp Governance, also known as "Mana Mitra," to provide users with hassle-free, citizen-focused services via WhatsApp.
In March, the number of services was increased to 200 from the initial 161 citizen services.
In a separate post, the Chief Minister disclosed that he had met with a delegation from NASSCOM, which included President Rajesh Nambiar, Vice President and Head of Membership & Outreach Srikanth Srinivasan, and ER&D head Siva Prasad Polimetla. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss their strategic plan for establishing Andhra Pradesh as a major global technology hub through talent, infrastructure, and innovation.
"For India's growing tech sector, driven by GCCs, ER&D, and AI, Andhra Pradesh is a compelling alternative to saturated hubs, offering unique advantages," wrote Naidu.
