Azure Power Global Limited, an independent solar power producer, announces the appointment of Ranjit Gupta as its CEO. The Board of Directors also appoints Murali Subramanian as the company’s president.

Excited about his new role, Ranjit comments, “I am excited to join Azure Power and look forward to getting started immediately,” he adds, "We welcome the opportunity to work with our new colleagues who established Azure Power as India's leading solar developer. Ranjit and Murali are the co-founders and were respectively the CEO & COO of Ostro Energy. The start-up enterprise grew into one of the leading renewable energy companies in India, holding a portfolio of over 1,000 MWs.
Prior to Ostro Energy, Ranjit and Murali have also served as leading executives at various power companies such as Orange Renewables and IndiaBulls Power. They started their career at Schlumberger, and have served at various field and management position.

Prior CEO & Chairman of the board of directors of the company, Inderpreet Wadhwa would continue to serve as an advisor to the company to assure an orderly transition.
