BharatPe Appoints Yugal Tiwari as CPMO

BharatPe has named Yugal Tiwari as Chief Product and Marketing Officer (CPMO), leveraging over 15 years of expertise in product leadership, consumer payments, fintech, growth, and technology-driven enterprises.

Tiwari comes to BharatPe from Paytm, where he held the position of Senior Vice President II, Product most recently. His professional background encompasses significant experience in developing and expanding consumer payment solutions, UPI strategies, banking experiences, merchant offerings, engagement initiatives, and product-driven growth programs.

In his new position, Tiwari combines extensive product knowledge with insights into consumer interaction as BharatPe enhances its financial services and payments network for merchants throughout India.

Yugal Tiwari most recently held the position of Senior Vice President II, Product at Paytm, having advanced from Senior Vice President I. In this role, he directed various projects within the Paytm consumer app, such as UPI payments, user onboarding, app home screen, referrals, rewards, loyalty, and engagement programs. His efforts led to advancements in activation, reactivation, retention, engagement, referrals, and UPI market share.

Prior to rejoining Paytm, Tiwari was involved with the Product team at CRED, where he oversaw consumer payment solutions including credit card bill payments, UPI, recharge and utility payments, and Tap & Pay. He additionally focused on product-led growth for UPI peer-to-peer payments, enhancing his expertise at the crossroads of payments, consumer behavior, and growth.

Previously, Tiwari occupied multiple leadership roles at Paytm Payments Bank and Paytm. At Paytm Payments Bank, he worked as Associate Vice President – Wallet & UPI Products and earlier directed Consumer Banking Products & Growth, overseeing offerings such as savings accounts, debit cards, fixed deposits, money transfers, passbooks, checks, and ATM experiences. His prior Paytm roles allowed him to advance in product leadership positions while aiding in merchant and consumer payment solutions.

In his initial term at Paytm, Tiwari contributed to the development of early payment platforms for merchants and participated in the company’s growth into offline payments through QR codes. He spearheaded efforts to facilitate merchant onboarding and subsequently introduced Paytm’s card payment system as a zero-to-one offering.

These positions offered experience in both online and offline payments, as well as in merchant acquisition and large-scale product development.

 

Tiwari’s previous experience featured Facebook, where he focused on advertiser insights and pre-sales tools, earning the Facebook India Impact Award for a tool utilized by advertising sales teams worldwide. He started his professional journey at ZS Associates in pharmaceutical consulting.

Tiwari possesses an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, enhancing his expertise in product strategy, payments, and consumer technology.
