Passengers who have gone through security clearance are able to utilize the Blinkit app to select from a variety of over 2,500 products, such as phone chargers, snacks, personal care items, books, and gifts.
Albinder Dhindsa, the CEO of Blinkit, unveiled the launch of their latest service in collaboration with Adani Airports. He highlighted that travelers have access to a range of over 2,500 products and can have their orders hand-delivered within the terminal by the company's specialized team of staff.
The company states that orders are processed by staff present within the terminal and promptly delivered to boarding gates, lounges, and waiting areas. If the model is successfully implemented on a larger scale, the potential consequences could be substantial.
Retail businesses at airports have historically faced challenges such as exorbitant rental costs and a lack of diverse product offerings.

Blinkit's innovative app-driven shopping experience, which includes a wide range of products, has the potential to disrupt conventional airport stores by appealing to passengers with immediate or urgent shopping requirements.
Blinkit's introduction to the airport market comes at a time when competition in the fast-paced commerce sector is on the rise.
Amazon has recently reduced seller referral fees on over 125 million products in the Indian market, a decision believed to be a strategic countermeasure against the increasing competition posed by Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.
According to Amit Nanda, the Director of Selling Partner Services at Amazon India, this adjustment aims to enhance the profitability and ease of selling on the platform, specifically benefiting small enterprises and entrepreneurs operating in Tier II and III urban centers.

Blinkit sees the airport pilot program as a strategic move to expand beyond traditional home delivery services and instead target areas with higher population density. The financial viability of this expansion on a larger scale is still uncertain.
However, airports, with their consistent flow of travelers and extended wait times, along with a growing emphasis on generating revenue from non-flight related sources, present a promising platform for testing the effectiveness of this new approach.
