Cargill Appoints Ravinder Balain as Country President for India

imgCargill, an international food and agriculture company, revealed the naming of Ravinder Balain to the position of Country President for its Indian operations, along with Dheeraj Talreja as Vice President and Managing Director for Food South Asia.

This executive restructuring occurs as the organization aims to enhance its strategic activities and expansion in India, reinforcing its dedication to innovation, environmental responsibility, and employee-centered principles.

According to the company's statement, Balain became part of Cargill in 2024 and has now assumed the national leadership position while maintaining his corporate role as Senior Managing Director for Cargill's Animal Nutrition & Health division.

His responsibilities will include directing strategic partnerships across all Cargill business units and departments within India.

Through this appointment, Balain will guide the company's Indian operations and market expansion, enhance relationships with government officials and key stakeholders, maintain operational stability, and provide counsel to the international executive leadership regarding India's changing business environment.

 

Additionally, he will maintain his supervision of Cargill's Animal Nutrition & Health business throughout South Asia, focusing on transforming Cargill's nutritional expertise into superior and cutting-edge nutrition products under established brands such as Purina, Provimi & Vetcare.

With more than 33 years of professional experience, his background encompasses his previous role as Managing Director for South Asia and Southeast Asia at Corteva Agrisciences, which was previously part of DuPont, along with over thirty years in executive global and regional marketing positions at DuPont, where his work concentrated on developing new markets and enhancing workforce capabilities.

Talreja brings extensive expertise as an accomplished professional whose career has extended beyond twenty years across various industries and regions, encompassing food ingredients, specialty chemicals, and manufacturing sectors. In his most recent position, he oversaw AAK India, South Asia & Sub-Saharan Africa, successfully guiding the organization's evolution from a joint venture structure to complete ownership. His background also includes key executive positions at Huntsman Singapore, where he played a crucial role in advancing commercial strategies and achieving operational improvements throughout Northeast and Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and additional emerging markets.

In his new role at Cargill, Talreja will focus on executing Food APAC's strategic objectives, which encompass advancing innovation, achieving operational excellence, and enhancing customer relationships throughout South Asia, as stated by the organization.
