CEAT Expands Chennai Plant Capabilities for Premium Tyre Unit

CEAT Limited revealed an enhancement of production capabilities at its Chennai facility for passenger car and SUV, commercial vehicle, and two-wheeler tyre segments.

The expansion enhances the facility’s capacity to produce advanced, high-quality products for clients in India and major international markets, such as Europe and North America.

One of the main products produced at the facility is 4SeasonDrive+, which introduces European standard all-season tyre performance to India, engineered for varying weather conditions with an emphasis on wet grip.

The facility in Sriperumbudur also produces CrossDrive RT, CEAT’s durable terrain tyre designed to meet the needs of the US rugged and off-road tyre market. The product merges off-road performance with the flexibility needed for everyday driving, enhancing CEAT’s premium SUV range for Indian consumers.

CEAT has established manufacturing capabilities for the SportDrive SUV ZR22, becoming the first Indian tyre manufacturer to produce 22-inch tyres in India. Created for high-end SUV applications with large rims, the range incorporates CEAT CALM technology and is being launched for sale in India.

The expanded capabilities allow us to manufacture increasingly sophisticated products across passenger vehicles, two wheelers and commercial vehicles, while responding to the distinct requirements of customers in markets such as Europe and North America".

CEAT has additionally enhanced the Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) manufacturing capacity of the plant to meet the evolving needs of commercial vehicle fleets in Europe, North America, and other developed markets. The facility can now produce seven advanced TBR sizes to serve some of the rapidly expanding premium TBR sectors in Europe and North America.

Fleet needs are evolving past just durability and mileage to encompass reduced fuel consumption, enhanced ride comfort, superior handling, and preparedness for electric mobility, the statement indicated.

The Chennai plant is increasing production capacity for CEAT’s light truck steel radial tyres in sizes 15-inch, 16-inch, and 17.5-inch. The segment is experiencing growing acceptance in India and abroad as vehicle makers launch next-generation light trucks and buses.
