Chandan Das Steps Down from JioStar After 11 Years

Chandan Das has resigned from his role as the director of Digital & TV revenue generation for the South region at JioStar after serving in the organization for 11 years. Sharing the news on his LinkedIn handle, Chandan Das wrote, “Some chapters don’t end… they simply prepare you for the ones you were meant to write next”.
“After 11 years and 4 months, I’m wrapping up a deeply meaningful journey with JioStar / Star — a place that shaped me, challenged me, and truly made me who I am professionally.”

He added, “I’m extremely excited to share that I will be taking up a new role soon — a new beginning that I’m stepping into with gratitude, energy and a lot of optimism".

While at JioStar, Chandan was responsible for managing digital and TV revenue, handling monetization for various properties like Bigg Boss, Star Parivar Awards, Hotstar Originals, and World TV Premieres, as well as overseeing OTT and channel inventories.

Additionally, he established and supervised a team dedicated to comprehending client needs, creating personalized media strategies, and ensuring successful implementation in various markets.
Before this, he worked at Disney Star for over 10 years in various senior positions. These positions involved being the head of the South region, the head of Star Plus region, Disney Kids channels, and later Star Jalsha, Jalsha Movies, and Star Kiran. He also had previous responsibilities managing advertising business portfolios in Hindi GEC, Hindi movies, and regional markets.
In these roles, he focused on sales strategy, building client relationships, meeting regional revenue goals, and leading teams. Das has previously worked in various companies such as HT Media, Info Edge India, DPSC, Lakmé Lever, and Bharti AXA Life Insurance, where he has held positions in corporate sales, client servicing, strategy, and trainee assignments.
According to regulatory updates, Reliance Industries has successfully finalized the merger of Star Television Productions Ltd (STPL), a subsidiary of the company, with Jiostar. JioStar was formed as a joint venture following the merger of Reliance's media business with the India business of Walt Disney, a global media giant, in November 2024.

The total value of the merged company was determined to be $8.5 billion. The nation's top media and entertainment platform revealed earnings of Rs.7,232 crore in the third quarter of September, along with a profit of Rs.1,322 crore after taxes.
