Cloud & AI: The Tech Leap India's 6.82 Cr MSMEs Urgently Need

Separator

According to IBEF, India is home to 6.82 crore MSMEs and is the backbone of the country's GDP, forming one of the world's largest and most diverse ecosystems. Over the past few years/post-COVID, this sector has undergone a quiet yet powerful shift driven by digitalization. From digital payments and e-commerce to automated operations and data-led decision-making, MSMEs are steadily moving towards a cloud-first and AI-empowered future. In a recent report of EY, Indian businesses are showing interest in adopting cloud, AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency, customer experience, and competitiveness.

However, the digital transformation journey for smaller enterprises is still challenging. Many MSMEs struggle to navigate cloud adoption due to technical complexity, infrastructure constraints, and limited budgets. This gap underscores the demand for simplified, cost-efficient, and purpose-built cloud solutions that align with both the technical and financial realities of these businesses.

Cloud Transformation in India

The EY Global Cloud Implementation study shows that organizations are moving towards cloud adoption to modernize their operations and integrate emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Cloud is important for scalability and security, and innovation. But MSMEs have to face multiple challenges:

  • Cybersecurity and Data Privacy concerns
  • Budget limitations to invest in expensive cloud computing infrastructure.
  • Skill gaps among professionals in supervising advanced technology
  • Cultural barriers and belief systems while shifting from traditional workflows.

To address these challenges, MSMEs are turning to subscription-based models and secure cloud hosting that reduces upfront costs and operational burden.

Rahul Takkallapally, Co-Founder of BharathCloud, suggests “Cloud for MSMEs must be understandable. If technology feels overwhelming, then fewer people will likely adopt it. The approach in our systems is to simplify cloud into ready-to-use bundles designed for India's real business challenges.”

Indian Cloud service providers like BharathCloud simplify how they can bridge the gap by offering services like low-latency cloud, cloud disaster recovery. They are offering reasonable pricing and ready-to-use systems for MSMEs and small businesses to fill this crucial gap.

Why Tailored Cloud Solutions are Important for MSME Growth

India's MSMEs move across manufacturing and export units to retail stores, healthcare, logistics, and fast-growing startups. Their technological needs are different, and making user-friendly cloud solutions is crucial. And because of this diverse industry, tailored cloud solutions, cloud infrastructure management, and multi-tenant public cloud models are gaining traction in India.

Padma Reddy Sama, Co-founder of BharathCloud, emphasizes “A predefined cloud system will not work for the businesses of India. MSMEs need localized, secure, scalable cloud infrastructure that matches their pace and budget. Tailoring is not optional here; it is a necessity for today's infrastructure.”

Structured cloud systems provide MSMEs:

  • Predictable monthly subscriptions
  • Scalable infrastructure
  • Built-in security and compliance through cloud compliance services
  • Reduced Operational complexity
  • Faster adoption of tools

Impact of Cloud and AI on Transforming MSMEs

Cloud computing platforms are getting popular across multiple industries like manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and education.

  • 20 to 40% reduction in IT and operational costs
  • Easy and faster deployment of digital tools and customer applications
  • Better security because of cloud-native defences
  • AI-powered insights that provide intelligent decisions

Indian cloud services such as BharathCloud play an important role in helping MSMEs with dynamic workload, like cloud hosting for fintech, community cloud for healthcare, secure cloud for accounting firms, ICAI-compliant cloud solution, and cloud backup and recovery. These tailored solutions ensure security and manage infrastructure without worrying about the complexity associated with cloud adoption.

Future Outlook

As India focuses more on initiatives like Digital India, Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat, MSMEs will be more dependent on enterprise-grade cloud services, hybrid cloud solutions, and AI-enabled softwares to stay relevant and ahead in the market. From automated supply chains to getting analysis from the data and digital customer engagement, the next decade of MSME Growth will be stimulated and influenced by smart, cloud-enabled innovation.

Indian cloud platforms prioritize affordability, localization, and simplicity, so that tech and non-tech professionals will be able to use them effortlessly. Platforms like BharathCloud with secure cloud infrastructure, sector-ready bundles, and cloud cost optimization are crucial for today's needs. This will play an essential part in helping MSMEs to build resilience, modernization, and operations to participate in the growth of India's digital economy.
