Eli Lilly and Company reported stronger-than-expected quarterly results on Wednesday, driven by robust demand for its blockbuster GLP-1 drugs for diabetes and obesity.

The pharmaceutical giant also raised its full-year revenue forecast, reflecting confidence in sustained growth fueled by these high-demand treatments.

Sales of its diabetes drug Mounjaro surged 91 per cent year-on-year to $9.94 billion, significantly outperforming analysts’ expectations.

The drug has rapidly gained traction in global markets, benefiting from increasing diagnosis rates and wider adoption among patients seeking more effective glucose control therapies.

Meanwhile, obesity treatment Zepbound generated $4.93 billion in revenue during the quarter, exceeding market forecasts of $4.73 billion.

The strong performance underscores the growing demand for weight-loss medications, as obesity rates continue to rise worldwide and healthcare providers increasingly prescribe advanced GLP-1 therapies.
