Elon Musk's America Party Contesting the Existing Political Order

Who could have imagined that a tax legislation would create a divide between allies Donald Trump and Elon Musk, two of the most influential figures globally. This divide has now given rise to a new political party in the United States, which is mainly governed by the Democratic and Republican parties. On July 4, as the nation celebrated Independence Day, the US Senate approved President Trump’s ambitious “big, beautiful bill,” with Vice President JD Vance casting the deciding vote to break a 50-50 tie.
On the same day the bill was passed, Musk utilized his social media platform X to conduct a poll, asking users if the ‘America Party’ should be established. The Tesla CEO stated, “Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you desire independence from the two-party (some might call it a uniparty) system!”
Approximately 65% of respondents selected “yes.” This confirmed the decision.
Thus, Musk followed through on his pledge made on July 1. He had promised to create the America Party if the tax bill was approved, contending that the nation requires an alternative to the “Democrat-Republican uniparty.”
No further specifics regarding the party were provided, just a strategy on how to proceed.

“One approach to execute this would be to focus intensely on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts,” he remarked.
“Considering the extremely narrow legislative margins, that would be sufficient to act as the deciding vote on contentious legislation, ensuring they reflect the genuine will of the people,” he continued.
On July 6, he declared: “Today, the America Party is established to restore your freedom.”
He alluded to the legacy of Epaminondas, the Greek commander known for dismantling the “myth of Spartan invincibility” at the Battle of Leuctra. That was his strategy for winning the conflict.
“An extremely concentrated force at a specific point on the battlefield,” he explained.

Trump, who had previously been mostly quiet regarding the “new political party” discussion, mentioned on Monday through his microblogging platform that he feels “saddened” to see Musk go entirely “off the rails” in recent weeks.
