Flipkart Appoints Jane Duke as Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer

Flipkart has named Jane Duke as Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer for the Flipkart Group, bringing in a senior compliance executive as the e-commerce giant seeks to enhance governance amidst its growing operations.

In the newly established position, Duke will manage the group’s ethics and compliance framework while collaborating closely with Flipkart’s leadership team, the company stated. The appointment arrives as major digital platforms encounter increasing regulatory and public examination regarding governance, transparency, and risk management.

Duke has nearly thirty years of experience in enforcement, corporate compliance, and legal leadership. She transitions to Flipkart from Tyson Foods, where she worked as Vice President and Associate General Counsel, after previously being the Chief Compliance Officer. At Tyson, she managed regulatory compliance, government inquiries, legal cases, and enterprise risk management.

At the beginning of her career, Duke dedicated over ten years to the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas, which included serving as US Attorney from 2007 to 2011, providing her with hands-on experience in public-sector regulation and enforcement.

Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive of Flipkart Group, stated that Duke's hiring illustrates the firm's focus on establishing robust institutional frameworks as it expands. He mentioned that her experience in ethics, compliance, and governance would enhance Flipkart’s sustainable growth and strengthen its commitment to transparency and integrity.

Duke mentioned she was coming on board Flipkart at a critical stage of its development and would collaborate with the leadership team to enhance compliance systems that are transparent, scalable, and technology-driven, aligning with the group’s growing obligations as a major digital commerce entity.

Established in 2007, Flipkart Group runs multiple consumer-focused enterprises such as Flipkart, Myntra, Flipkart Wholesale, Cleartrip, and super.money. Boasting hundreds of millions of registered users and more than a million sellers on its platforms, the group has emerged as a key element of India’s digital commerce landscape. Duke’s appointment indicates a stronger emphasis on governance as the company gears up for its upcoming phase of expansion.
