Force Motors Limited, the biggest van manufacturer in India, has teamed up with Rosmerta Auto Recycling Pvt. Ltd. to assist customers in scrapping qualifying end-of-life vehicles at a sanctioned facility in the Delhi-NCR area, the companies announced.

The program seeks to encourage proper vehicle disposal, enhance access to structured scrappage, and facilitate the recovery and recycling of automotive materials. It aims to increase customer awareness on authorized scrappage and its advantages compared to informal disposal. Beginning with Delhi-NCR, Force Motors will seek similar collaborations in various regions of India.

Through the partnership, qualified Force Motors customers can utilize Rosmerta's Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) to formally retire their vehicles. An RVSF is a state-approved recycling facility. The structure for these facilities was established according to the regulations announced by MoRTH in September 2021.

The center will handle qualifying end-of-life commercial vehicles and help with the necessary vehicle and ownership paperwork.

It will also perform depollution, dismantling, and sorting of recyclable materials.

Customers will obtain pertinent scrappage documents at various points in the process, including the Certificate of Deposit (CoD), when applicable. According to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, a purchaser of a new vehicle who provides a CoD for a vehicle at the end of its life receives a waiver for the registration fee of the new vehicle.

The agreement will facilitate adherence to relevant scrappage and recycling regulations, as well as the creation and transfer of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) credits, if relevant. The Environment Protection (End-of-Life Vehicles) Regulations, 2025 were implemented in April 2025. They mandate that vehicle manufacturers achieve steel-scrap objectives, linked to their past domestic sales, by acquiring EPR certificates from RVSFs starting in FY26. The certificates are issued by the Central Pollution Control Board in favor of RVSFs.

The procedure will enable the recovery of materials like steel and aluminum for recycling and subsequent use. The companies seek to motivate vehicle owners to opt for approved facilities rather than unofficial disposal methods.

The program is especially pertinent to owners of commercial vehicles, as replacing old vehicles is related to fleet performance and upkeep. Authorized scrappage offers an official way to retire vehicles, enabling recoverable materials to re-enter the production cycle.

The initiative further bolsters Force Motors' dedication outlined in a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to assist the Commercial Vehicle Replacement Scheme in the Delhi-NCR area.

Under the MoU, the firm will carry out the initiative through its authorized dealership network in Delhi-NCR and provide the specified OEM advantages to qualifying customers. The program focuses on trucks and buses that meet BS-IV or older emission standards and are registered in Delhi-NCR, motivating owners to swap them for BS-VI or more compliant vehicles, or electric alternatives.

Ashok Leyland and Switch Mobility were the initial OEMs to formalize an MoU under the program. Eicher Trucks & Buses has registered as well. Force Motors stated that the collaboration is part of its strategy to enhance resource efficiency, minimize waste, and broaden its sustainability efforts beyond production to the end of a vehicle's lifespan.
