GroupM Southeast Asia CEO Himanshu Shekhar Steps Down After 25 Years with the Company
Himanshu Shekhar, CEO of GroupM Southeast Asia, has stepped down after a distinguished 25-year tenure with the company. Appointed Southeast Asia CEO in May 2023, Shekhar was instrumental in driving the company’s success across important regional markets.
Shekhar's journey with GroupM began over two decades ago, during which he held leadership roles across its agencies, including Mindshare. In April 2022, he was promoted to Cluster CEO of GroupM Thailand, overseeing operations in Indonesia and Vietnam as well.
His career in media has been defined by impactful leadership and strategic growth. Shekhar was named CEO of GroupM Indonesia in 2011 and Southeast Asia CEO in 2014. Over the years, he cultivated strong partnerships with major global and regional brands such as Unilever, Nestlé, GSK, Indofood, and Shopee.
Before his regional assignments, Shekhar held leadership positions at Mindshare India for over seven years, ultimately advancing to the role of General Manager. He also served as Business Head for North & West at Big FM for two years.
Renowned for his emphasis on innovation, team development, and strategic partnerships, Shekhar's contributions have garnered significant recognition, setting GroupM up for ongoing success in crucial markets.
