HAL Inks MoU with Russia's PJSC-UAC

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) declared it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Russia's Public Joint Stock Company United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC-UAC) for manufacturing the civil commuter aircraft SJ-100 in Moscow, Russia.

Prabhat Ranjan from HAL and Oleg Bogomolov of PJSC UAC in Russia signed the MoU with DK Sunil, CMD of HAL, and Vadim Badeka, Director General of PJSC UAC, present, as stated in a HAL release.

The airplane is a narrow-body, twin-engine aircraft. Over 200 aircraft have been manufactured and are currently in service with over 16 commercial airline operators, stated HAL.

"Under the UDAN Scheme in India, the SJ-100 will revolutionize short-haul connectivity." According to the announcement, HAL will possess the rights to produce SJ-100, stated HAL in the release.

This will mark the inaugural occasion that a fully assembled passenger airplane will be manufactured in India. The most recent project of this kind was HAL's manufacture of the AVRO HS748, which commenced in 1961 and concluded in 1988.

The Indian aviation industry is projected to need more than 200 regional jets in the next decade, along with an extra 350 aircraft for the Indian Ocean area to facilitate proximity to international tourist spots.

HAL recently announced that its initial series production aircraft of the Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40, TH 4001, intended for training Air Force personnel, successfully completed its first flight at HAL's Bengaluru facility.

HAL published a message on their official 'X' account and announced the progress. TH 4001 is a completely aerobatic, tandem-seat turboprop plane crafted for fundamental flight training and nighttime flying.

This tandem-seat turbo trainer, designed for full aerobatics, will feature an air-conditioned cockpit, contemporary avionics, hot refueling, rapid pilot switch, and zero-zero ejection seats. Constructed with a reliable turboprop engine, this airplane aims to provide excellent low-speed maneuverability for enhanced training efficiency.
