Huawei Appoints Corey Deng as Chief Cybersecurity and Privacy Officer

Huawei has named Corey Deng as the chief cybersecurity and privacy officer (CSPO) for its Middle East and Central Asia (MECA) region, enhancing its commitment to bolstering cybersecurity governance and data protection structures amid accelerating digital transformation.

In his new position, Deng will manage Huawei’s regional strategies for cybersecurity and privacy, focusing on aspects such as cybersecurity, data protection, AI security, and compliance with regulations. He will collaborate closely with clients, partners, and regulators to improve Huawei’s comprehensive cybersecurity assurance systems throughout the region.

Deng has over 18 years of experience at Huawei, having started with the company in 2008. His career includes a blend of technical and leadership positions in various global markets.

Before this role, he held the position of Chief Cybersecurity and Privacy Officer at Huawei’s Digital Power Business Unit Headquarters. His past positions encompass Cybersecurity Director and Vice President of Solutions Sales in the UK, Solutions Sales Director in the Netherlands, and earlier roles in R&D, which included being a marketing manager and IC chipset designer.

Deng adds,“As digital transformation accelerates across the Middle East and Central Asia, trust must remain central to innovation. I look forward to working with stakeholders across the region to strengthen cybersecurity and privacy frameworks that enable sustainable and secure growth.”

The appointment occurs during a period when institutions throughout the region are maneuvering through a more complicated threat environment, influenced by swift technological adoption and changing geopolitical dynamics.

Huawei emphasized that conventional security models need to adapt to tackle new challenges, such as the emergence of sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructures and risks associated with the quantum era.

Under Deng’s guidance, Huawei seeks to deepen the integration of cybersecurity and privacy into its product development, solutions, and internal governance, fostering a safer and more robust digital ecosystem throughout the Middle East and Central Asia.
