IIT Madras Signs Global MoUs as Part of International Expansion

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) declared several international collaborations with academic institutions, industry stakeholders, and government organizations in Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, the UAE, the UK, and the US, signifying a significant advancement in its global expansion initiatives.

In line with the initiative, IIT Madras entered into several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) intended to enhance cooperation in research, innovation, skills development, and startup ecosystems.

The MoU was signed in front of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who also launched the IIT Madras Global Research Foundation.

Three memoranda of understanding were executed with German collaborators, comprising Technische Universitat Dresden and the international optics leader Carl Zeiss. Significantly, IIT Madras will be the location for Carl Zeiss’ inaugural innovation hub outside of Germany.

IIT Madras collaborated with Malaysia's Advanced Semiconductor Academy (ASEM) to cultivate semiconductor talent and enhance skilling capabilities, and also established agreements with the Aisling Group. In Singapore, IIT Madras Global formed a market access partnership with GATES APAC to assist Indian deep-tech startups aiming to penetrate ASEAN markets.

IIT Madras entered into MoUs with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism to foster collaboration in research, academia, and startup innovation, in line with Dubai's D33 economic agenda. Further agreements were established with the World Government Summit, MCA Gulf, and AGNA Capitals.

The institute also entered into multiple other MoUs with autonomous entities established by the Government of India, such as MEITY and NCERT, along with Indian firms and startups.
