The government is set to initiate the seventh round of auctions for essential and strategic minerals, offering 19 blocks for sale in various states.

The development holds importance as the government seeks to enhance India’s self-sufficiency in clean energy, cutting-edge technologies, fertilizers, and strategic industries due to global supply chain disruptions. Up to this point, the government has carried out six auction rounds, selling 46 important and strategic mineral blocks.

“Capitalizing on this progress, the seventh tranche will present 19 blocks in various states under mining lease and composite licence,” states the Mines Ministry.

Essential minerals play a vital role in the nation's economic growth and mineral security. The worldwide shift to clean energy and cutting-edge technologies has greatly heightened the need for minerals like lithium, graphite, rare earth elements (REE), tungsten, vanadium, titanium, and various other rare metals. Their restricted availability and geographic concentration create difficulties for resilient supply chains globally.

According to reports, the ministry announced that it will host the National District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Summit 2026 on Monday and Tuesday in this location.
