India, UN Review Development Partnership Fund's Operations

The Indian Permanent Mission to New York, alongside the United Nations Development Partnership Fund's board of directors, evaluated the entire range of the fund's activities.
The two sides also shared opinions regarding the future scope of the Fund.
In a message on X, the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations stated, "The Board of Directors of the India-UN Development Partnership Fund convened today at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations. The Board assessed the entire range of the Fund's activities and evaluated the current projects. The Board also shared opinions on the prospective direction of the Fund.”
The India-UN Development Partnership Fund fosters collective prosperity in the global South. In collaboration with the multilateral system, it supports developing nations' efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Launched in 2017, the $150 million India-UN Development Partnership Fund is facilitated and overseen by the Government of India, working in conjunction with the United Nations system, according to the statement.
The Fund aids Southern-led and owned, demand-oriented and transformational sustainable development initiatives worldwide, prioritizing least developed countries and small island developing States. Agencies of the United Nations carry out the Fund projects in close cooperation with partner Governments.

The Commonwealth Window of the India-UN Development Partnership Fund seeks to promote the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing nations within the Commonwealth of Nations, which is a voluntary association of independent and equal sovereign States, primarily consisting of former regions of the British Empire, such as India.

The nations assisted by this Commonwealth Window are situated in different regions globally and comprise some of the most at-risk Member States of the Commonwealth, according to the reports.

Commonwealth countries find technical and sustainable development and collaborative national growth efforts especially relevant and advantageous due to their shared history, mutual respect, common values, and analogous institutional, technical, and practical tools that consistently shape and impact their political, regulatory, and cultural spheres. The Commonwealth Window backs country-led, demand-responsive, and transformative sustainable development initiatives, the announcement indicated.
