India-Germany Ties at All-Time High

German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, discussed on Saturday the collaboration between India and Germany in the fields of defence and security, noting that the strategic partnership between the two countries has expanded over time.
"Germany considers India a vital ally." This alliance has expanded over the years. "India is a crucial partner in defense," states Ackermann.
He indicated a rising German involvement in interactions with the Indian Armed Forces in recent years, featuring enhanced participation in joint drills.

You have observed significantly more German collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces in recent years. There is undoubtedly a greater readiness and eagerness to collaborate in certain activities. Ackermann states that India is increasingly becoming a crucial partner in this part of the world, sharing our values and perspectives on the global order.

"Consequently, security will become a key focus in developing a significantly more distinct partnership in the upcoming years," Ackermann remarks.
Discussing the overall bilateral relationship between India and Germany, he mentioned that Chancellor Merz's official visit will initiate a fresh commitment to enhance the partnership between the two countries significantly.

"I believe we have reached a peak moment. Our collaboration has never been better than it is now. I am extremely pleased to witness the strength of the partnership, the significant interest in Germany regarding India, and the deep friendship in India for Germany. However, a robust partnership can always be enhanced and improved. Ackermann notes that this visit will result in a refreshed attempt to enhance the strength of this partnership.
His comments come prior to Friedrich Merz's visit to India on January 12 and 13, as Chancellor of Germany.
