Indian-American Executive Honored by UN Agency, Bahrain Chamber

A notable Indian-American maritime leader has received an award for his industry leadership from a UN agency and Bahrain's prominent industry chamber.
Dr. SV Anchan, Chairman of Safesea Group, received the ACE Global Bridges 2026 Global Maritime Personality for Performance & Leadership Award from the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), in collaboration with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the ACE Health Foundation based in Washington.
The prize was given at a unique ceremony organized by the Bahrain Chamber on February 8.
During the ceremony, Anchan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be alongside leaders "enhancing ties, reinforcing partnerships, and creating significant collaboration together." Occasions such as this motivate each of us, as industry leaders, to give more, strive harder, and elevate our individual standards even further within our sectors.
He committed to working "tirelessly to convert these opportunities into concrete, real results—day after day."

Anchan emphasized that Bahrain serves as an essential connection between the US 5th Fleet and the commercial shipping sector to maintain the safety and security of ships in the region, including the Gulf of Aden.
He emphasized that Bahrain inherently stands out as a global partner, especially in the maritime industry, due to its robust maritime infrastructure and geographical position, highlighting that the possibilities for Bahrain in this area are limitless.

"I mention this not just due to my background in a third-generation maritime family, but because history demonstrates that no nation has attained enduring economic prosperity without maritime strength as a fundamental element." Conversely, nations that have overlooked maritime advancement have experienced a decline in their global economic position over time. "That reflects Bahrain's vision and history," he stated.
