Though the internet is accessible in well-developed cities, providing internet services to certain areas (hill stations, remote villages, etc.) has always been challenging worldwide. The subsidiary of Reliance Industries, Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), has announced a partnership with SpaceX, the American telecommunication company Starlink, which is the subsidy of SpaceX owned by Elon Musk. The companies will come together to provide Starlink’s broadband internet services to customers in India, including those in rural and remote regions.

This alliance strengthens the Jio offerings by accompanying SpaceX’s direct services. Jio aims to make Starlink solutions accessible to every Indian through its large network and robust customer support infrastructure.

Numerous broadband and telephone network companies have been working to overcome the challenges for several years now. One such innovative solution lies with SpaceX’s President and COO, Gwynne Shotwell, expressed zeal about Jio’s efforts to strengthen connectivity throughout India and looks forward to securing the necessary authorizations to expand Starlink’s reach. This alliance came out shortly after Bharti Airtel entered a similar agreement with SpaceX, indicating a competitive landscape for satellite broadband services in India.
