imgMehli Mistry, who was recently removed from the Tata Trusts board due to disagreement among important trustees, has also resigned from his position on the governing council of the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai, according to reports.

Vijay Singh, a trustee of Tata Trusts, has taken over the position on the NCPA Council that was previously held by him.

Mistry had been a member of the NCPA Council representing the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, along with other Trusts' appointees such as Jehangir H. Jehangir and Pramit Jhaveri, as mentioned in the report. His resignation from the NCPA board closely follows his departure from the Tata Trusts.

The NCPA Council comprises various distinguished individuals including K. N. Suntook served as the Chairman and Member-in-Charge, Noel Tata as the Vice Chairman, Brinda Kahtau, as well as several nominees from the Maharashtra government.

Established in 1969 by J. R. D. Tata with the assistance of the Tata Trusts and prominent arts benefactors, the NCPA was officially launched in 1970 and is currently recognized as one of India's most esteemed cultural organizations, as stated in the report.

In October, Mistry, who was previously considered a trusted associate of Ratan Tata, was dismissed from his position as a trustee when important members chose not to extend his term.

Chairman Noel Tata, Vice Chairman Venu Srinivasan, and trustee Vijay Singh are said to have abstained from giving their approval, thereby bringing an end to his tenure at one of the group's prominent charitable organizations, according to reports.

Due to Mistry's ability to cast a vote regarding his own renewal, the remaining trustees were tasked with making the decision on his continuation. Given Jimmy Tata's lack of active involvement in the Trust's discussions, the voting majority held significance for both the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT).

The current members of the SDTT board are Noel Tata, Venu Srinivasan, Vijay Singh, Mehli Mistry, Pramit Jhaveri, and Darius Khambata. Similarly, the SRTT board consists of Noel Tata, Venu Srinivasan, Vijay Singh, Jimmy Tata, Jehangir H. C. Jehangir, Mehli Mistry, and Darius Khambata.

The choice was made in response to a proposal put forth by Siddharth Sharma, the CEO of Tata Trusts, last Friday, to extend Mistry's term for three more years.

Although trustees Darius Khambata, Pramit Jhaveri, and Jehangir Jehangir had agreed to the proposal, the absence of unanimous consent ultimately led to Mistry's departure, according to reports.
