Meta Appoints Rafael Frankel to Lead its APAC Public Policy Team
Meta has selected Rafael Frankel to head its APAC Public Policy team. Frankel announced the news on LinkedIn, describing the position as a challenge and an opportunity during a time of technological, social, and political transformation in the region.
In a LinkedIn update, Frankel expressed that he was “deeply humbled and excited” to assume the role during a period of considerable changes in the region and globally.
"Taking on this position during a time of significant technological, social, and political transformation throughout APAC and globally presents both a challenge and an opportunity I am eager to accept, as Meta aims to provide superintelligence that empowers individuals, enhances businesses, and assists governments in serving their communities. I am excited to continue this mission in this new role, collaborating closely with Meta’s remarkable APAC Public Policy to reach these goals," he stated.
Frankel previously held the position of Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia at Meta and is a member of the Board of Directors for the US-ASEAN Business Council. Frankel possesses 25 years of experience throughout the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, having formerly served as a foreign correspondent and consultant in Bangkok, Jerusalem, and Washington.

Frankel mentioned he will take over from Simon Milner, who directed Meta’s APAC policy operations for eight years and worked a total of 14 years at the firm.
Expressing gratitude to Milner for his guidance, Frankel remarked he “couldn’t have wished for a better manager and mentor,” noting this feeling was commonly held by colleagues who collaborated with him.

He stated that Milner guided the APAC policy team with “compassion, teamwork, and vision” which allowed the team to perform at its best and achieve results for both the region and the organization.

Frankel expressed his hope that his endeavors in the next months and years will be "worthy of the example" established by Milner.
