OhmiumOhmium International, a leading green hydrogen company specializing in proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers, has inaugurated a new gigafactory in Doddaballapura, near Bengaluru. This state-of-the-art facility marks a significant expansion of Ohmium’s operations in India.

The new gigafactory will initially ramp up to produce and ship two gigawatts (GW) of fully assembled and tested electrolyser systems, aimed at fulfilling the demands of Ohmium’s global project pipeline. According to Ohmium’s CEO, Arne Ballantine, the launch of this facility represents a major milestone for the company and will help deliver green hydrogen solutions to customers worldwide.

Ballantine highlighted that the production capacity of this new facility could potentially abate four million tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to the carbon sequestration of 180 million trees.

This gigafactory, Ohmium’s second manufacturing site in India, will consolidate key functions such as manufacturing, assembly, quality assurance, testing, warehousing, and shipping under one roof. Ashwin Varma, COO of Ohmium, emphasized that the company’s hyper modular PEM electrolysers are designed for mass production and easy assembly, enabling efficient scaling and cost-effective performance.

With a focus on standardized high-quality manufacturing practices, Ohmium aims to meet the growing demand for green hydrogen while optimizing cost efficiency as production capacity expands.
