
Pankaj Goel CTO of BharatPe Steps Down

The CTO of BharatPe, Pankaj Goel who joined in July 2023 has resigned due to personal reasons and is currently on his notice period. Pankaj reported to Nalin Negi, CFO and interim CEO of BharatPe who took over Suhail Sameer in 2023. This exit is said to follow the departures of other senior leadership.
At BharatPe, Pankaj has steered the technology team and drove the group’s innovative strategy. His appointment followed a seven-month vacancy after the departure of former CTO Vijay Aggarwal in November 2022. BharatPe is yet to find Pankaj’s replacement.
Pankaj is his previous role served as senior VP and head of payments engineering at payment aggregator Razorpay. Here he spearheaded execution and strategy for the company’s core payments infrastructure. Pankaj’s exit follows the departures of several senior leaderships at BharatPe.
Apart from Vijay Aggarwal, other executives who left in late 2022 include Nehul Malhotra (head of buy-now-pay-later), Rajat Jain (chief product officer for lending and consumer products), and Geetanshu Singla (vice president, technology).
With a career spanning over 31 years, Pankaj held leadership roles at companies including Intuit, Trilogy — a product development leader, Schlumberger, Videocon Telecommunications, Sun Microsystems, NetGuru, and Netscape Communications, where he has led development across web, mobile, and desktop platforms, overseeing product strategy, engineering execution, data management, and user experience.
Pankaj's experience covers the consumer, small business, and enterprise sectors.

Pankaj's resignation comes at a time when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted final authorization to Resilient Payments, a BharatPe group company, to operate as an online payment aggregator.
