PM Modi Launches 105 Projects Worth Over Rs 18,600 Crore in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched 105 development projects valued at over Rs 18,600 crores, unveiled the "Odisha Vision Document" and flagged off new trains during his visit to the state.

He also felicitated several people, including 'Lakhpati Didis' and others.

PM Modi, who visited Odisha for the sixth time since the BJP government was formed in the state in June 2024, launched the projects at a function at Janata Maidan here.

The projects launched by the Prime Minister included drinking water and irrigation, health infrastructure, rural roads and bridges, national highways and railway infrastructure.

Following the opening of the Sonepur-Purunakatak railway line, PM Modi signaled the departure of the first passenger train to the Boudh district.

Additionally, railway construction were started, including the fourth rail line between Jharsuguda and Jamga and the third and fourth rail lines between Sarla and Sason.

In addition, PM Modi announced the launch of 100 electric buses as part of the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) system, which encourages environmentally responsible urban transportation.

The Prime Minister launched the "Odisha Vision Document," which was prepared based on public input and serves as a roadmap for the state's development goals. It is centered on the 100th anniversary of India's independence in 2047 and the 100th anniversary of Odisha's creation as a linguistic state in 2036.

By 2036 and 2047, respectively, the goal seeks to make Odisha's economy worth $500 billion and $1.50 trillion.

In order to encourage cultural tourism and preserve legacy, the Prime Minister also introduced the "Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana," a program to turn the birthplaces of Odia icons into memorials with museums, interpretation centers, statues, and libraries.

Modi also congratulated a few "Lakhpati Didis" and other female achievers from throughout the state.

The Ministry of Rural Development's "Lakhpati Didi" program aims to empower women in Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Through the adoption of sustainable livelihood methods, the objective is to assist them in reaching a household income of more than Rs one lakh per year.

With 16.60 lakh 'Lakhpati Didis' created nationwide, the state leads the nation.
