PM Modi Meets Sheikh Mohamed, Signs Key MoUs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Abu Dhabi for the initial part of a six-day journey that includes the UAE and Europe. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed him at the Presidential Airport, giving him a ceremonial reception, while UAE F-16 fighter jets accompanied his plane as it entered Emirati airspace.
Since then, Prime Minister Modi has held discussions with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, focusing on energy collaboration and bilateral trade. The discussions occurred against the backdrop of worldwide supply disturbances related to the continuing conflict in West Asia.
In his initial comments, Prime Minister Modi firmly criticized the recent assaults on the UAE, calling them utterly intolerable.
In a message to President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed as brother, he commended the tenacity exhibited by UAE leaders in tough times, reiterated India’s backing for the Emirates, and stated that dialogue and diplomacy are the sole way ahead in today’s global conflict.
An Akashvani correspondent states that the discussions have produced tangible results.
The two parties executed a framework accord for a strategic defense alliance – a crucial move that formalizes security collaboration between the two nations.

A memorandum of understanding concerning strategic petroleum reserves was finalized, along with a distinct agreement on liquefied petroleum gas supplies – actions that directly tackle India’s energy security issues amidst ongoing tensions in West Asia.

The two nations also agreed to an MoU to create a ship repair cluster at Vadinar on India’s western shoreline. In terms of investments, the UAE revealed pledges totaling five billion US dollars into Indian infrastructure, RBL Bank, and Samman Capital.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE is consistently strengthening in various sectors.
