Process of Selecting Cases for Audits and the Role of Technology

The Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), with the support of the Indirect Taxes Expert Committee and the Audit Commissionerate, Bengaluru Zone,  arranged an interactive session.

It focused on the process of selecting cases for audits and the application of technology for audit readiness, scheduled on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Sigma Hall, Hotel Chancery Pavilion, Residency Road, Ashok Nagar, Bangalore. 

The keynote address delivered by Smt. Kajal Singh, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Central Tax for the Bengaluru Zone, while Smt. Shanti Sudha, IRS, Additional Commissioner of Audit Commissionerate-1, Bengaluru, led a presentation and discussion on Selection of Cases for Audits. Additionally, Swaroop Repaka, Senior Director – Product at ClearTax, conducted a session on the use of technology for audit readiness. 

This interactive session is designed to encourage communication between the tax administration and stakeholders regarding audit preparedness, the criteria for selection, and the digital tools that promote compliance and transparency

The main takeaways from the session included understanding how the government selects taxpayers for audits under Section 65, gaining insights into the parameters utilized by the Audit Commissionerate for selection, obtaining practical perspectives on audit procedures from senior GST officials, and recognizing the role of technology in enhancing audit readiness and efficiency.
