Rajesh Kannan Named as President of Tata Motors

Rajesh Kannan has been named President and Chief Digital and Information Officer at Tata Motors. The appointment will take effect on August 1, 2023, according to a stock regulatory filing made by the company on July 25. "We hereby inform you that the Board of Directors, at its meeting held on July 25, 2023, has appointed Mr. Rajesh Kannan as President & Chief Digital and Information Officer ('CDIO'), Senior Management Personnel of Tata Motors Limited ('the Company') w.e.f. August 1, 2023," Tata Motors said.

Kannan has 28 years of experience delivering transformative, end-to-end digital and IT engagements for global organisations in a variety of industries and sectors, including retail, consumer products, media and advertising, banking, insurance, and financial services, according to the firm. Kannan received his Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Anna University in Chennai and his Master of Science in Computer Aided Design in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai.  He previously worked for Tata Consultancy Services Limited before joining Tata Motors Limited.

Meanwhile, the automaker's revenue from operations increased 42 percent to Rs 102,236.08 crore in the June quarter, exceeding the Rs 1 lakh crore mark, as expected by the Street. In addition, its consolidated operating profit, measured as EBITDA, increased more than fivefold year on year to Rs 13,218 crore. In the June quarter, the operating margin increased by 700 basis points (bps) year on year to 14.4 percent. Tata Motors' share price rose to Rs 639.45 on Tuesday, up 10.20 percent or 1.62 percent.
