Senior consultant Romal Shetty has been nominated CEO-designate of Deloitte India after a months long selection process, according to an email sent to the firm's partners. The nomination committee, after considering multiple candidates, zeroed in on Shetty, who leads Deloitte's consulting practice in India. The next step is for its Indian equity partners to confirm his candidacy. On April 1st next year Shetty will take over the corner office from incumbent N Venkatram.

Shetty joined the firm from KPMG in 2016 along with a bunch of senior partners and more than 300 associates. Romal Shetty, head of consulting, and Rohit Mahajan, head of risk advisory, were in the race for the top job, along with 2-3 senior partners. The company puts together a selection and nomination committee made up of some of the most experienced and respected Deloitte executives. The committee then meets with all possible candidates. These partners can either suggest a name or pitch their own name to the committee.
