Septerna Appoints Mark A. Wilson as Chief Legal Officer

Septerna, Inc., a biotechnology firm in the clinical stage leading a new era in G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) drug development, has today revealed the appointment of Mark A. Wilson as Chief Legal Officer. Mr. Wilson is a successful executive in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors, bringing over 25 years of expertise in intellectual property, corporate law, strategic partnerships, and corporate governance issues.

Wilson comes to Septerna from Nektar Therapeutics, where he last held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. In this position, he acted as the lead attorney and senior leader for the legal, human resources, and information technology divisions, and was part of the organization’s executive team.

Throughout his time in office, Wilson acted as the chief legal counsel for various major global development and commercialization partnerships, strategic corporate deals, and alternative funding options, and he oversaw the company’s international patent strategy. He became part of Nektar in 2002 as Patent Counsel and advanced through positions of greater responsibility, ultimately serving as Vice President of Intellectual Property and General Counsel.

Earlier in his career, Wilson was an associate at Reed & Associates, a patent law firm located in Menlo Park, California, where he represented both start-ups and Fortune 500 firms.

Wilson possesses a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.S. in Pharmacy from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy. He is licensed to practice with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a participant in the State Bar of California.
