The agreement represents a notable enhancement of Sigma's abilities in the defense industry. Recognized mainly as a maker of fuzes, the company will now manufacture entire artillery shell parts, expanding its footprint in the worldwide munitions industry.

The project entails the production of 155 mm artillery shell casings, which are the main structural element of artillery shells. Manufacturing necessitates specialized metallurgical knowledge, accurate machining, thermal processing, and rigorous quality assurance measures. The firm announced that it has secured the necessary export approval from the Department of Defence Production within the Ministry of Defense.

The 155 mm caliber is extensively utilized among NATO and allied artillery systems and continues to be the international benchmark for contemporary artillery systems. The need for artillery ammunition has surged significantly in recent years due to geopolitical tensions and heightened military modernization efforts globally, generating prospects for defense manufacturers able to deliver essential components in large quantities.
