Stephen Deasy Named Confluent’s New Chief Technology Officer
Confluent, the data streaming pioneer, has announced the appointment of Stephen Deasy as its new Chief Technology Officer. In his role, Stephen will lead the engineering organization’s vision, strategy, and execution, guiding how Confluent builds and scales its platform to deliver real-time intelligence and AI-powered capabilities on a global scale.
Stephen will focus on strengthening Confluent’s core infrastructure and accelerating innovation across its data streaming platform. His leadership aims to make it easier for organizations worldwide to build and deploy real-time applications, including agentic AI, hyper-personalized customer experiences, and automated operations.
Stephen brings more than 20 years of experience leading engineering at high-growth software companies. Recently, he built Benchling's global product and platform teams as the company’s CTO.
At Atlassian, he ran engineering for Jira, Confluence, Trello, and its cloud platform. He also held leadership roles at VMware, EMC, and Groupon. As a passionate technologist, Stephen holds multiple patents and invests in early-stage technology companies.
