Kataria mentioned that his objectives encompass unlocking value within the company’s portfolio by investing in capacity building and enhancing market entry strategies.

"Considering that each business is at different stages of growth, my main focus will be to unlock value throughout the portfolio by investing in building capabilities, improving our go-to-market execution, and expanding promising businesses,” Kataria remarked.

Godrej Agrovet is active across agricultural inputs, animal feed, crop protection, and consumer products within India’s agricultural sector.

Previously, Godrej Agrovet introduced a new herbicide tailored specifically for maize crops. ‘Ashitaka,’ developed in partnership with ISK Japan, is an innovative solution that effectively manages grasses and broad-leaved weeds, which pose significant challenges for maize farmers in India. Weed infestation, particularly during the early growth stages, greatly affects maize productivity. When applied during the 2 to 4 weed leaf stage, Ashitaka provides efficient weed management.

On a global scale, India holds the 4th rank in terms of acreage and 5th in annual maize production. With the nation’s economy continuing to grow and a rising middle class driving demand for animal protein, starch, and other industrial products that utilize maize, there has been an increasing need for maize for livestock feed, industrial, and biofuel applications over the years. Nevertheless, the sector encounters considerable challenges, including limited access to high-quality seeds and inputs, which obstruct growth.
