Swiggy Unveils 'Eatlists', a Revolutionary Food Discovery Feature
On-demand convenience platform Swiggy has introduced ‘Eatlists’, a pioneering feature in the food delivery space aimed at transforming how users discover and share food recommendations. The feature allows food enthusiasts to curate and share lists of their favorite dishes directly within the Swiggy app, akin to creating and sharing music playlists.
Swiggy’s internal data reveals that 58% of users struggle with meal indecision, while 68% rely on recommendations from friends and peers, often navigating multiple platforms for reviews and orders, which leads to a fragmented and time-consuming experience.
The new Eatlists feature enables users to create themed lists of their favorite dishes for easier browsing and sharing. Users can start by tapping the bookmark icon next to their preferred dishes, saving them under various themed lists such as 'Weekend Treats', 'The Answer is Always Biryani', 'Let’s Get This Party Started', or 'Healthy Bites'. These lists can then be shared with friends and family through social media platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram.
In addition to creating personal Eatlists, users can explore lists curated by others, such as 'Late-night Cravings in Mumbai' or 'Top Street Foods in Delhi'. This function aims to streamline the recommendation process and offer a continuous stream of food inspiration.
Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Food Marketplace at Swiggy, emphasized the feature's community-building potential, stating, “Before social media and other digital channels, food was the original form of community building. Sharing meals brought people together. Eatlists brings the best of both worlds: the ability to create and share your food identity with the world while discovering new favorite dishes through thousands of Eatlists curated by fellow food lovers and experts, both in your city and beyond”.
The Eatlists feature is available on both the Swiggy food home page and the user’s profile page, providing a seamless integration for users to discover and share culinary delights.
