US President Donald Trump has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be a member of the Board of Peace for Gaza, as a component of the Gaza peace initiative.

In a letter from January 16, Trump communicated to Modi: “I am profoundly honored to invite you, as Prime Minister of the Republic of India, to collaborate with me in an immensely significant and splendid initiative to reinforce peace in the Middle East, while simultaneously pursuing a daring new strategy to address global conflict.”

“On September 29, 2025, I unveiled an extensive strategy to resolve the Gaza conflict, an exceptional 20-point blueprint swiftly welcomed by global leaders, including significant heads of state from the Arab nations, Israel, and Europe. To advance this plan, on November 17, the United Nations Security Council largely supported Resolution 2803, acknowledging and promoting this vision,” Trump stated.

“It's time to make all of these dreams come true.” Central to the plan is the Board of Peace, the most remarkable and significant board ever formed, which will be created as a new global organization and transitional governing authority,” he stated.

“Our initiative will unite a remarkable coalition of countries eager to embrace the esteemed duty of establishing enduring peace, a privilege held for those willing to set an example and wisely invest in a safe and thriving future,” Trump stated, further noting that “we will gather our fantastic and dedicated allies, many of whom are prominent global leaders, soon.”

The US President revealed the board as a component of the second stage of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In October of the previous year, Israel and Hamas consented to Trump's peace proposal.

The White House has stated that the Board of Peace will be crucial in executing Trump’s 20-point plan for strategic oversight, mobilizing international resources, and guaranteeing accountability as “Gaza shifts from conflict to peace and development.”

The 20-point plan aims to transform Gaza into a de-radicalised, terror-free area that does not threaten its neighboring regions, along with its reconstruction.
