Trump Warns of Additional Tariffs on Nations Imposing Digital Taxes

US President Donald Trump warned nations that impose digital taxes of potential extra tariffs on their goods if they fail to eliminate such laws.
According to reports, the Trump administration was contemplating imposing sanctions on officials from the European Union or its member states who are accountable for executing the bloc's significant Digital Services Act.
Numerous nations, especially in Europe, have imposed taxes on the sales income of digital service companies, such as Google from Alphabet, Facebook from Meta, Apple, and Amazon. The matter has been a persistent trade annoyance for several US administrations.

"With this FACT, I alert all Nations with Digital Taxes, Laws, Guidelines, or Regulations that if these biased measures are not eliminated, I, as President of the United States, will enforce significant extra Tariffs on that Nation's Exports to the USA, and impose Export limitations on our Highly Guarded Technology and Chips," Trump states.
In the post, Trump asserted that this legislation was "meant to damage, or discriminate against, American Technology" and that it exempted companies from US tech competitor China.

Trump has previously warned that he might impose tariffs on nations such as Canada and France due to disagreements over digital services taxes.
In February, Trump instructed his trade chief to restart inquiries focused on establishing tariffs on imports from nations that impose digital service taxes on American tech firms.
