upGrad Appoints Govind Kumar to Head Working Professionals B2C Segment

upgradupGrad has appointed Govind Kumar as the President of Working Professionals (B2C) to enhance its operations in India, according to a company press release. Previously overseeing Hopscotch's operations in India, Govind played a pivotal role in the brand's transformation into a Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) powerhouse in the Kid’s Fashion sector. In his new role, Govind will be responsible for Sales, Marketing, and Content, focusing on strengthening upGrad’s business in university-led long-format courses and expanding its operational presence in the country to bolster profitability. With a decade of experience in retail and consumer segments, Govind will also lead technological advancements at upGrad to ensure an optimal product-market fit.

Mayank Kumar, Co-Founder and MD of upGrad emphasized the significance of the Working Professional (B2C) segment, stating that it is an integral part of upGrad's identity and has shown substantial year-on-year growth in both enrollments and market-share dominance. Expressing commitment to delivering excellence, Kumar highlighted the positive impact on a million lives and underscored the need to intensify efforts for a positive bottom line. He praised Govind Kumar's track record in driving product excellence, expanding categories and fostering user growth, anticipating that Govind's leadership will solidify upGrad's brand leadership.

Govind Kumar, in his previous roles, also held leadership positions in renowned brands such as Flipkart, ITC Ltd., and Indian Terrain Clothing. Recognizing India's substantial youth population and its potential to become a major knowledge contributor globally, Govind expressed his eagerness to contribute directly to driving impact in his new role at upGrad. He sees this opportunity as a chance to leverage his expertise to support upGrad's unprecedented growth and further challenge stereotypes associated with upskilling.
