US and Iran Trade Warnings as Swiss Talks Continue

While negotiations to finalize a peace agreement continued privately between the US and Iran in Switzerland, both parties made public threats against one another as critical issues threatened to undermine the efforts to conclude the conflict.
The negotiations aim to conclude a conflict that has caused significant turmoil throughout the Middle East, disrupted the global economy, and are intended to initiate a 60-day timeframe to resolve long-standing problems affecting US-Iran relations.
Nevertheless, as the discussions began, US President Donald Trump warned of resuming attacks on Iran if it failed to prevent Hezbollah from "creating problems" in Lebanon.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump remarked, "If they don’t, we’ll strike Iran very forcefully again, just as we did last week, but even more intensely."
The negotiations commenced amid recent clashes between the Israeli army and the Hezbollah militant group, supported by Iran, in southern Lebanon.
The understanding reached between the United States and Iran calls for an end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Iran's lead negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf subsequently reacted to Trump's warning, cautioning the United States that "our military is prepared to respond".
"Do they not realize that if their threats were effective, they wouldn't have ended up in today's state of despair?" Ghalibaf stated, "We disregard American threats."
"They should exercise caution with their remarks; our military is prepared to react to them in a different way." "Regardless of what they claim, we are the ones taking action."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented, reiterating his administration's stance that Israeli troops would stay in southern Lebanon "for as long as needed," while also pledging to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear arms.
