Vedanta Aluminium Appoints Fabio Roberto Martins as CEO of Billets
Vedanta Aluminium has appointed Fabio Roberto Martins as the CEO of its billets division. In his new role, Martins will lead the aluminium billets product group, driving strategy, commercial operations, and overseeing day-to-day management. This appointment aligns with the company’s plan to enhance its billet production capacity to 1.2 million tonnes annually.
Martins brings a wealth of experience from his previous position as Director of Operations at Alcoa, where he developed a strong background in the aluminium sector. Commenting on his appointment, John Slaven, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, expressed, "As India’s leading billet producer and exporter, we are pleased to welcome Fabio. His global expertise will be instrumental in advancing innovation and strengthening our market presence".
Aluminium billets are solid cylindrical blocks, created through casting, which are critical raw materials for numerous manufacturing applications. With a casting capacity of 580 kilo tonnes annually, Vedanta Aluminium stands as India’s top producer and exporter of premium aluminium billets.
Vedanta Aluminium, a part of Vedanta Limited, accounted for more than half of India’s aluminium production in FY2024, with an output of 2.37 million tonnes. The company continues to focus on maintaining its market leadership while expanding its capabilities to meet rising demand.
