Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) is excited to unveil Wipro Research, a strategic initiative aimed at fostering innovation and advancing progress through engineering-focused research. This initiative is strengthened by a partnership with the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani, which will support groundbreaking research initiatives through PhD sponsorships and collaborative research efforts.

Wipro Research seeks to bridge the gap between academic excellence and industrial expertise, driving engineering innovation and reinforcing Wipro's commitment to shaping the future through collaboration and impactful research. Headquartered in Bengaluru, Wipro Research will adopt a collaborative model that integrates in-house research teams, academic partnerships, and startup incubation.

Mr. Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering & MD – Wipro Enterprises stated “The launch of Wipro Research marks a significant step in our commitment to driving pioneering research that supports the continued growth and innovation across Wipro Infrastructure Engineering’s core business units—Hydraulics, Automation, Aerospace, Water, and 3D. This initiative reinforces Wipro’s dedication to being at the forefront of technological advancement”.

Pratik further added, “Under the leadership of Sundararaman G (Sundar), who will transition from his current role as Co-CEO of Wipro PARI to head this new initiative, we are confident that this will accelerate innovation, enhance operational efficiency, optimize costs, and create sustainable, cutting-edge engineering solutions that will play a key role in shaping the future of our industries”.

Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani expressed, “The accelerated development of new innovative products or finding innovative solutions to industrial problems can be achieved by deeper collaboration between academia and industry. BITS Pilani is excited to collaborate with Wipro Research to drive deep-tech innovations, initially in the areas of hydraulics and automation, and expand to aerospace, water and 3D printing in future. This collaboration will set a new benchmark for academia-industry collaborations in India”.

Mr. Sundararaman G, Scientist & Head (Designate) – Wipro Research stated, “Wipro Research will focus on building cutting-edge technologies with a two to five-year horizon, in collaboration with BITS Pilani as the anchor institute. Our efforts will center on application-relevant projects that deeply engage with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering teams across the Wipro Infrastructure Engineering group business entities. Key research areas include Motion Components and Autonomous Control, Electronics, Network and Communication, Computer Vision Technologies, Material Science, and Manufacturing Processes, among others”.

He further added, “Wipro Research’s collaborative environment will provide opportunities for professional development, access to state-of-the-art research facilities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the future of engineering”.
