Adani Power Secures LoI from BSPGCL

Adani Power Limited has obtained a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) for a 2,400 MW thermal power initiative to provide 2,274 MW of electricity to the North and South Bihar Power Distribution Companies. The company received notification of the LoI grant from BSPGCL via email at 3:47 p.m. on August 6, 2025.

The LoI describes the extensive acquisition of electricity by BSPGCL for North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. The 2,400 MW (3X 800MW) Thermal Power Project will be established in Village Pirpainti, District. Bhagalpur, Bihar, under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) framework by obtaining fuel from the designated coal linkage provided by the Utility as per Para B(IV) of the SHAKTI Policy.

Adani Power will establish a new 2,400 MW Ultra-supercritical power plant at Village Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district, Bihar, with an investment of approximately $3 billion, supplying the full net capacity of 2,274 MW to Bihar Utilities. Adani Power proposed the lowest tariff of Rs. 6.075 per unit during a competitive bidding process.

The facility will obtain fuel from the designated coal linkage as per the SHAKTI Policy of the Government of India. The initiative is anticipated to create roughly 10,000 – 12,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and about 3,000 when it is operational.

The initial unit will be operational within 48 months of the designated date, and the final unit within 60 months of the designated date.

The company anticipates obtaining the LoA (Letter of Award) promptly, after which the Power Supply Agreement (PSA) will be finalized with the State Utilities.
