AIG Appoints Adam Clifford as CEO
American International Group (AIG) announced that Adam Clifford has been appointed as the chief executive officer of International Commercial Insurance, effective January 5, 2026.
In this role, Clifford will manage AIG’s International Commercial Insurance underwriting, distribution, and business teams across the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Japan, Asia Pacific, and Latin America, encompassing Talbot, Global Specialty, and Multinational.
Based in London, he will answer to Jon Hancock, CEO of General Insurance, and will be part of the AIG General Insurance Executive Leadership Team.

Clifford, a veteran executive with nearly 30 years of global insurance leadership experience, joins AIG from Everest Insurance, where he served as senior vice president overseeing International Retail Insurance and managing retail insurance operations in the UK, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

This week, AIG announced that it completed the purchase of Everest’s renewal operations in six European nations: Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Ireland.
Prior to his time at Everest, Clifford held key leadership positions at Chubb, including the role of managing director for Chubb European Group. Early in his career, he led underwriting teams in London and Singapore for AIG.

“Adam is a well-regarded insurance executive, known for his leadership skills and extensive underwriting and technical knowledge,” states Hancock.
"With over thirty years of international operating experience and an outstanding record, including seven years at AIG where he led underwriting teams, Adam offers extensive insurance industry expertise and a worldwide viewpoint in this position. I am eager to greet Adam upon his return to AIG and collaborate with him and the team to further enhance our positive momentum,” states Hancock.
